Philosophy

Welcome to the Wasteman Weekly.

Our platform is a "social-innovation" aimed at educating and enhancing our ideologies on living a more-conscious, connected, and fruitful life with the world around us. Everything's changed without us even realizing it, from a planetary-environmental perspective, and a personal-environment perspective. And honestly the science and acronyms can be really complex and hard to understand. But that's where we step in, with our goal to provide easily digestible, thought-provoking weekly articles that educate and entertain you, we hope we can equip you to be apart of the change for our shared climate, and your personal life.

So What's a Wasteman?

As seen in Cambridge Dictionary

As you can see, the term wasteman is slang that loosely means someone who acts or lives stupidly. And ironically, I found inspiration in it given many have heard about climate change yet refuse to do anything about it.

On the flip side though, our inspiration for the Wasteman Weekly has a double meaning as well. A wasteman in general terms can also refer to your local waste handlers, and allows us to reiterate the importance of their jobs among the many others in climate, as well as promoting a message - that climate action begins at the ground level, at your home, and can be as little as what you throw away.

At the Wasteman Weekly, we believe climate change has a communication problem

We're currently at a crossroads, where our climate is at a major tipping point, and yet it's easier than ever for us to turn a blind eye.

The Negative

Current media outlets will have you believe that climate change is narrowly focused on planting trees and saving the turtles, and that any real action can only be carried out by world leaders.
We inherently prioritize our own little bubbles like our communities, work, home, and habits - which gives us tunnel vision when it comes to anything that isn't a short-term gain.
The scientific nature of climate change has created numerous acronyms and complex language that make it difficult to comprehend and act on climate change topics.

The Positive

♻️
As interest and funding into climate-tech and climate adaptation grows, it's generating new industries, innovations, and monetary opportunities as well as jobs and a shift in global wealth.
🥗
Climate-friendly practices are almost always associated with an improved lifestyle, healthier choices, and a greater connection with nature, its beings, and help us appreciate the world around us.
🌎
And if none of that was enough, climate change is the single greatest issue humanity is currently, and likely will ever face - which means climate action directly translates to...well...saving the world.

The Wasteman Weekly is a blog and mixed media platform, focused on revolutionizing the way we communicate climate change. The clock is ticking, and the evidence is there - Join our community to support our mission and learn how it'll impact you, and what we can together to fight the negative impacts of climate change.
